Who should attend?

 

  • Workplace First Aiders must requalify every three years in order to keep their skills up to date and maintain their qualification.
  • Our two-day Level 3 First Aid at work requalification training course updates the First Aid skills of those who need to renew their First Aid at work certificate.
  • The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that you requalify within a month of your certificate expiring.
  • The syllabus for this course is as specified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and is fully compliant with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

    • This course is for people wishing to renew a valid First Aid at Work certificate, in order to continue to act as a workplace First Aider.
    • You must hold a current Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work qualification in order to attend.

Course Overview

  • The First Aid At Work Requalification course is for people wishing to renew a valid First Aid at Work certificate, in order to continue to act as a workplace First Aider.
  • You must hold a current Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work qualification.
  • This course will take at least 12 hours to complete.  These hours are delivered over 2 days.
  • The course covers the contents of the three-day First Aid at Work course in two days.
  • Delegates will requalify for the three-day course.
  • Learners will have the opportunity to practise essential first aid procedures, as well as learn the latest techniques for dealing with emergency situations and managing illnesses in the workplace.

• Health and safety (First Aid) regulations• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Managing an emergency• Low blood sugar
• Communication and casualty care• Diabetic emergency
• Accident recording and reporting• Choking (adult)
• Asthma• Eye injuries
• Bleeding (minor and severe)• Fainting
• Electrical incidents• Hypothermia / heat exhaustion
• Bone, muscle and joint injuries• Poisoning
• Head injury• Seizures (adult)
• Burns and scalds• Severe allergic reaction
• Chest pains (including heart attack)• Shock
• Unresponsive casualty• Stroke
• Sprains and strains• Epilepsy
• Chest injuries• Bandaging
  • The course Instructor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
  • The instructor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed the question paper.
  • On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 (RQF) First Aid at Work Certificate, which is valid for three years.
  • This course is Regulated by Ofqual under their Regulated Quality Framework (RQF) and accredited by the FAA.
  • The requirement of the Health and Safety Executive is that this certificate is renewed before the certificate expiry date to remain a qualified first-aider in the workplace.
  • Annual refresher training is also recommended by the HSE, as this provides First Aiders with an opportunity to practise and update their skills as a qualified First Aider, at any time while their First Aid certificate is valid.
