  • Designed for workplaces that fall into a low risk category.
  • This course can also be used for staff required to be Emergency First Aiders or for those who wish to support a designated First Aider trained via the First Aid at Work course.
  • Our one-day Level 3 Emergency First Aid At Work course provides comprehensive training for those who are required to be the designated Emergency First Aider within their workplace.
  • It will help you meet your regulatory requirements if your risk assessment indicates that First Aid training covering emergency protocols only, is sufficient for your workplace.
  • The syllabus for this Emergency First aid at Work course is as specified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and is fully compliant with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

Course Overview

  • This course is designed for people who want to receive training in Emergency First Aid and is especially suited for nominated First Aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.
  • This course will take at least 6 hours to complete.  These hours will be delivered in 1 day.
  • You will be taught the skills needed to act as an emergency first aider in the workplace.
  • Upon successful completion, learners will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations, including the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and/or take on the role of an emergency first-aider in the workplace.
• The role of the First Aider• Basic hygiene in First Aid
• Health and safety (First Aid) regulations• Electrical incidents
• Managing an emergency• Bleeding (minor and severe)
• Communication and casualty care• Burns and scalds
• Accident recording and reporting• Choking (adult)
• Assessing a casualty• Unresponsive casualty
• Monitoring a casualty• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Where to get help• Resuscitation (adult CPR)
• Basic life support• Seizures (adult)
  • The course Instructor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
  • The instructor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed the question paper.
  • On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 (RQF) Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, which is valid for three years.
  • This course is Regulated by Ofqual under their Regulated Quality Framework (RQF) and accredited by the FAA.
  • The requirement of the Health and Safety Executive is that this certificate is renewed before the certificate expiry date to remain a qualified first-aider in the workplace.
  • Annual refresher training is also recommended by the HSE, as this provides First Aiders with an opportunity to practise and update their skills as a qualified Emergency First Aider, at any time while their First Aid certificate is valid.
