Who should attend?

 

  • The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid qualification is accredited and regulated and is designed for those who would like to become qualified in administering Emergency Paediatric First Aid to children and infants, specifically infants under the age of 1 and children from the age of 1 up until the onset of puberty.
  • Our one-day course will build confidence & teach vital skills so you can deal with life-threatening first aid emergencies. We cover working and home environments that involve babies and children, help you to understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider, how to assess an emergency situation and how to prioritise your actions.
  • The syllabus for this Emergency Paediatric First Aid course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted, as well as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and it is fully compliant with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, fulfils the requirements of the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as issued by the department for Education and Skills Foundation stage relating to Early Years childcare.

    • This Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is ideal for those who work with or come into contact with infants or children as part of their voluntary or work-related roles.

    • It is also a suitable course for parents, families with young children and babysitters.

    • The training hours can be used towards your 12 hours of training if you need this in a professional capacity.

Course Overview

  • This course will teach you a variety of fundamental first aid topics, including including how to manage an emergency, how to put children and infants into the recovery position, how to administer life-saving CPR and how to provide assistance for a variety of injuries and illnesses. 
  • This course will take at least 6 hours to complete.  These hours are delivered over 1 day.
  • The syllabus for this Emergency Paediatric First Aid course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted, as well as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and it is fully compliant with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.
  • Please note – if you have a professional interest, i.e. you are a child-minder, schoolteacher or any assistant who might be in sole charge of the children for any period of time etc, then Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage require you to have 12 hours of Paediatric First Aid training, so our 2-Day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid would be required to fulfil their requirements. At least one person who has a current full Paediatric First Aid certificate must be always on the premises and available when children are present and must accompany children on outings.

  • The course Instructor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
  • The instructor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed the question paper.
  • On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 (RQF) Emergency Paediatric First Aid Certificate, which is valid for three years.
  • This course is Regulated by Ofqual under their Regulated Quality Framework (RQF) and accredited by the FAA.
  • The requirement of the Health and Safety Executive is that this certificate is renewed before the certificate expiry date to remain a qualified Emergency first-aider.
  • Annual refresher training is also recommended by the HSE, as this provides Emergency First Aiders with an opportunity to practise and update their skills as a qualified Emergency First Aider, at any time while their Emergency First Aid certificate is valid.
