  • Our Warehouse and Forklift Operations Training Programme provides opportunities for learners to develop their skills and knowledge to enable them to start or build on a career in a range of transport and logistics industries.
  • This 18-day training programme includes NVQ’s accredited by AIM Qualifications, which are part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and are internationally recognised.
  •  This qualification has been developed in conjunction with employers, training providers and subject matter experts.
  •  This course is an excellent starting point for a variety of other higher-level courses, including:
    • Level 3 Leadership and Management in the Transport and Logistics Industry
    • Subject specific Transport & Logistics qualifications at Level 3 and above

    • Learners who are seeking employment in Transport and Logistics
    • Those who are seeking to progress within their role in Transport and Logistics Industries

Our 4-Step Training Programme

Course Overview

You start with our Entry Level 1 Induction, in which learners have the opportunity to carry out practical tasks such as interpreting maps and finding key locations in a new workplace environment and carry out a simple manoeuvre on a forklift truck.

You then progress to our Entry Level 3 Award for Skills in Working in Transport and Logistics Industries.  This qualification will give learners the opportunity to carry out practical tasks such as carry out a manual handling lesson, conduct pre-use checks and move goods with pump-up trucks and sack trucks.

Next is the Level 1 Certificate for Skills in Working in Transport and Logistics Industries.  This course will inform you about the different careers and different types of organisations there are, explain the different job roles available and their functions, and give you an understanding of the digital skills required to work effectively in the Transport and Logistics industries.

Finally, you will put all your prior learning into practice, with our 5-day Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance course.  This course will cover all the essential skills you will need to become a forklift operator but has also been specifically tailored to include additional important aspects of working and operating in a warehouse environment, such as practical manual handling training and skills around load preparation.

A good understanding of English & Maths will be required.

 

Entry Level 1 Induction

Induction process and awareness when entering a new place of work

Entry Level 3 Award for Skills in Working in Transport and Logistics Industries

Manual Handling and Moving Goods

·        Know about manual handling and the movement of goods

·        Be able to handle and move goods

·        Be able to respond appropriately to risks associated with the safe handling and moving of goods

Using Equipment to Handle and Move Goods

·        Know about using equipment to handle and move goods

·        Be able to use equipment to handle and move goods

·        Be able to respond to risks associated with the safe use of equipment to handle and move goods

 

Level 1 Certificate for Skills in Working in Transport and Logistics Industries
·        Understand the roles and operations of a logistics environment
·        Responsible recycling, disposal and environmental considerations
·        How to plan a delivery schedule
·        How to carry out stock control
·        How to prepare for an interview in the warehousing industry
·        Understand various working patterns in different sectors

 

Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance
·        Prepare the load correctly for the forklift truck
·        Prepare the forklift truck for driving or manoeuvring
·        Operate, move or manoeuvre the forklift truck
·        Select, transfer and position loads using a forklift truck
·        Undertake post-operational checks on forklift trucks
·        Load and unload the container, vehicle, vessel or craft using a forklift truck

 

  • The course assessor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a workbook throughout the course.
  •  The assessor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed their workbooks.
  • On successful completion of this course, you will receive the following:
    • Key Performance Training In-house certificate of attendance for Entry Level 1 Induction
    • NVQ Entry 3 Award in Working in Transport and Logistics Industries certificate
    • NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Working in Transport and Logistics Industries certificate
    • Key Performance Training In-house certificate of attendance for Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance

    The NVQ courses are regulated by Ofqual under their Regulated Quality Framework (RQF) and accredited by AIM.

How to access funded courses

This course is funded through the Adult Skills Fund (ASF) in conjunction with New College Swindon.

Learners may be fundable if they meet the funding criteria, as set down by the ASF.

Typically, those on low incomes (under £25,000 per annum) or those claiming Universal Credit would qualify for funded training through this scheme.

You must also live in Wiltshire and be over 19 on 31st July 2025 to qualify.
