Course Introduction
Who should attend?
- Our Lift Truck Instructor Initial course is designed to teach currently registered AITT, ITSSAR, LANTRA and NPORS Instructors wishing to convert to an RTITB qualification.
- This course is also available for those with the following qualifications: • Registered RTITB LGV/ICI Instructor • IPAF Instructor • CITB/Construction Skills Instructor • ALLMI Instructor • LEEA Instructor • PASMA Instructor • ROSPA International Diploma in Advanced Instruction • ROSPA International Master Training • IIPMM Instructor (Ireland) • BRITTOP Instructor
- For all of the above, documentary evidence of having completed a Counterbalance course of Basic Operating Skills within 36 months of the course start date. The operator course must have been conducted by a currently registered AITT, ITSSAR, LANTRA, NPORS or RTITB Instructor.
- This course is not suitable for holders of in-house Instructor qualifications. Holders of in-house Instructor qualifications must complete the 10-day Initial course.
- By the end of the Lift Truck Instructor course candidates will be able to deliver RTITB Accredited Lift Truck Operator training.

Course Overview
- • Training Techniques: Remind yourself of the effective methods for delivering engaging and safe forklift training. • Regulations & Compliance: Refresh your understanding of current forklift safety regulations and best practices. • Assessment Skills: Hone the art of assessing and certifying operators in line with RTITB standards. • Practical Forklift Training: Improve your instructional techniques through hands-on forklift operation scenarios. • This course will take 5 days to complete

The examination components are:
- In-class Lesson Delivery Test (assessed during course)
- Associated Knowledge Test (assessed during course)
- Practical Instructional Ability Test (assessed on examination day)
- Professional Discussion (assessed on examination day)
- Upon successful completion, you will receive the RTITB Forklift Instructor Certificate, valid for 5 years
- Successful candidates will be re-registered on the RTITB Register of Professional Instructors.
