Course Introduction

Who should attend?

 

  • The Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid qualification is accredited and regulated and provides first aid training specifically for those delegates who would need to be able to administer First Aid in our outdoor environment.
  • This comprehensive two-day course covers a wide range of Outdoor First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available.

  • This Outdoor First Aid course fulfils the requirements of the First Aid element of the expedition syllabus and it is suitable for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards. See our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh First Aid Course.

  • There is sufficient content in this Outdoor First Aid course to satisfy the requirements of the HSE in respect of Emergency First Aid at Work. An additional certificate can be provided to evidence this to an employer.

    • All those who participate in, or are involved with outdoor pursuits, including Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award participants.

Course Overview

  • This comprehensive two-day course covers a wide range of Outdoor First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available. 

  • This course will take at least 12 hours to complete.  These hours are delivered over 2 days.

  • The syllabus for this course is as specified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and is fully compliant with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

  • The HSE recommend that Annual refresher training is undertaken.

  • The course Instructor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
  • The instructor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed the question paper.
  • On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 3 (RQF) Outdoor First Aid Certificate, which is valid for three years. There is sufficient content in this course to satisfy the requirements of the HSE in respect of Emergency First Aid at Work. An additional certificate can be provided to evidence this to an employer.
  • This course is Regulated by Ofqual under their Regulated Quality Framework (RQF) and accredited by the FAA.
  • Annual refresher training is also recommended by the HSE, as this provides First Aiders with an opportunity to practise and update their skills as a qualified First Aider, at any time while their First Aid certificate is valid.
