Slinging and Signalling Courses

Course Introduction

Which course is right for me?

  • A slinger and signallers’ primary function is to attach and guide the movement of items using a wide range of cranes and equipment utilised by their site.
  • These training courses are primarily concerned with slinger and signaller operations in a controlled training environment, and we will use a variety of lifting equipment to demonstrate the principles of this function.
  • By the end of their course, candidates will be able to attach a load to a crane or forklift, taking into account its dimensions, material, mass and centre of gravity, and communicate with the crane or forklift operator to safely lift and move the load from one position to another position and set it down.
  • Candidates will be able to demonstrate an awareness of other site operations, pedestrians, hazards in the environment and weather conditions, taking appropriate action to minimise risk and increase efficiency.
  • Additionally, candidates will be able to discuss the role of lifting plans in crane or forklift operations, and they will be able to discuss and perform pre-use inspection of slinging equipment required for operations.
  • All our RTITB Accredited courses conform to the HSE guidance, and all certification is valid for three years.
