Why cho0se RTITB accredited training?

Key Performance Training is proud to be an RTITB accredited lift truck training company, but what does this mean for you when choosing which company to train with?

The RTITB is the gold standard of training in our industry, and we only use RTITB accredited instructors and examiners for all our lift truck courses

We know that the best lift truck instructors want to deliver high standards of training. They want to ensure their training candidates are engaged with their courses, and to make sure that the lift truck operators they train can ultimately work safely and efficiently.  By using only RTITB accredited trainers, we can guarantee that all our courses meet these high standards.

We have access to their range of high-quality materials.  We avoid ‘death by PowerPoint’, as no one enjoys long slide presentations, and instead use expertly designed course materials which are engaging for learners.  We include different training delivery methods, such as group contributions, group participation and demonstrations, which help make the training more interactive.

We also have high quality question papers and mock theory papers, which enable good preparation and revision for our delegates, and all our materials are regularly updated, to ensure legal compliance.

The result is better engagement, leading to more knowledgeable forklift operators.

When instructors are trained and examined to the RTITB standard, you can be confident that they will deliver training to a high standard because they hold a sought-after, professional qualification.

For businesses, using RTITB instructors helps ensure the highest training and safety standards are upheld, and ensures that their training complies with guidance by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

We believe in offering high quality, engaging training and that’s why the RTITB standard is so important to us.  We are audited on an annual basis as well, so you can be confident that these high standards are constantly being met and maintained.

Lisa’s story

Lisa’s story

Here at Key Performance Training, we talk about the risks of driving a forklift truck badly every week.

It’s part of our course material and we often post about the dreadful accidents and incidences involving forklifts to raise awareness of the consequences and the risks associated with the equipment we train on.

First Aid Icon

Unfortunately though, thousands of workers are still being injured by them every year and 1 in 5 workplace fatalities were caused by moving vehicles in 2021.

And these statistics are on the rise.

We’d like to share with you the firsthand experience of someone who is living with exactly the consequences – Lisa Ramos.

Lisa was hit by a forklift truck on the 24th March 2006. This is a date that is engraved on her memory forever. Not because it was the date of her only son’s 13th birthday, but because it was the day she became an ‘amputee’. Here, she tells the story of how one tragic moment in time has caused a lifetime of heartache and devastated generations of her family.

If you’re driving a forklift without proper training, or you supervise people who do, you could be breaking the law, and putting others at risk of serious, life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

For a full list of our courses, please see our website – https://keyperformancetraining.co.uk/ and see how we can help you get the right training to minimise the risks of this happening to someone else.

We thank Lisa for sharing her story with us all.  Today Lisa is a guest speaker at health and safety conferences and employer events, alongside her husband, David Garton. Together, they raise awareness about the hidden costs of workplace accidents and the devasting impact it can have on the family, friends and colleagues of the victim.

Employability Focus Month

Employability Focus Month

Employability Focus Month

It’s National Employability Day on Friday 30th June, and so we’ve dedicated the month of June to working hard with some of our partners to really focus on our role in improving people’s employment opportunities.

We started the month by running our first taster session exclusively for people being helped by an amazing organisation called Disability Experts.  They provide targeted support for people with disabilities, and they have been an invaluable resource for us in the past few months.  With their help, we’ve been able to make some small adjustments to our courses, and in partnership, we should be able to help these participants into employment.

We’ve had a great meeting with Thrive Recruitment this month, in which we discussed some of the job opportunities around Swindon at the moment, and what a difference being trained in multiple disciplines has on people’s employability.

We attended the Swindon Job Fair on Friday 23rd June at the County Ground.  This event enabled us to meet with lots of wonderful people, all of whom were looking for work.  We talked to people about enhancing their employability by widening their skills, with workplace or forklift training.  We also handed out a fair few lollies and sweets to the children, so apologies to the parents!

We wish everyone we met the very best of luck with their job searches.  If you want more information about any of the courses we offer, please see our website – https://keyperformancetraining.co.uk/#

We were also delighted to attend Seetec Pluss’s Employability Panel event on Monday 26th June.  This was a group of partners, employers, Swindon Borough Council and some of the participants Seetec Pluss have helped. Our local MP Justin Tomlinson attended and joined the discussion as we looked at some of the great things being provided by Seetec Pluss already and what might be needed in the future.   Seetec Pluss offer wide and varied practical, hands-on advice to people looking to get back into employment.  Their personal approach is so supportive and respectful, and that extends to the relationship with external partners like us.  They really make a difference to people’s lives, and we’re honoured to work with them.

Finally, on the day itself, we’re attending an event called “The Neurodiversity Challenge”, which is being run by Disability Experts.  We’re looking forward to an enjoyable, educational and entertaining session in which we can improve our knowledge of this topic.

Thank you to everyone we’ve spoken to during these events.  We’ve certainly learnt a lot and we hope that we can put into practice some of the things we’ve picked up along the way.

Celebrating a fantastic May

We wanted to share with you some of the fantastic things that have happened here at Key Performance Training in May.

Training highlights

We have been able to work with four new companies this month, helping them with a variety of courses, so we’re delighted to be able to help them achieve compliance and we look forward to working with them again in the near future.

We’ve run 16 courses this month and we’ve helped 24 people achieve their training goals.  One of the highlights was our first Mental Health First Aid Course.  We ran this in support of the UK Mental Health Foundation, and we donated 10% of our course fees to them, as well as provided our trained delegates with a green pin badge, which is the symbol of the charity.  We are planning on running our open course at least once a month, as we see Mental Health training becoming more in demand with employers; especially if training is made mandatory by the Government.

Our general manager, Rachel Gearon, attended our Emergency First Aid at Work course this month as well, ensuring our own certification has been renewed and is up to date.

Events

We’ve joined Grafters, a networking group for people wo work with the construction industry.  We will be planning an event with them in July, so their members can come along and have a go on a forklift truck.

We’ve also joined the South West Growth Hub team and attended an initial 1-2-1 meeting.  We’re going to attend their next networking meeting in Chippenham at the end of June, so we’re really looking forward to meeting some of the members face to face.

We were also delighted to attend the Swindon Business Expo on 18th May at Swindon Double Tree, Hilton Hotel.  We met lots of great people and were also able to make some new and potentially exciting contacts there.

Personal news

On a personal note, our trainer Darren Radford also had a huge highlight this month, as he got married to the wonderful Mandy. We were there to celebrate alongside them, and we all had a fabulous time.  We wish them a very long and happy life together.

All in all, it’s been a busy and rewarding month, and we’re looking forward to June being as productive.
