Course Introduction

Who should attend?

 

  • Our Entry Level 1 Forklift Friday non regulated training programme provides learners to gain an introduction to Logistics, covering the basics of working in a warehouse environment in the logistics industry.
  • This one-day course has been specially tailored to include an insight into the workings of a forklift truck, including the chance to carry out some basic supervised manoeuvres.

  • This course is the starting point for a variety of other courses, including:

    • Entry 2 Pick, Pack and Dispatch
    • Entry 3 Award in Skills for Working in Transport & Logistics Industries
    • Level 1 Certificate in an Introduction to Warehousing
    • Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance

    This training programme has been developed in conjunction with employers, training providers and subject matter experts.

    • Learners who are seeking employment in Transport and Logistics
    • Those who are seeking to progress within their role in Transport and Logistics Industries

Course Overview

  • Our Entry Level 1 Forklift Friday training programme will give learners the opportunity to carry out practical tasks such as interpreting maps and finding key locations in a new workplace environment and carry out a simple manoeuvre on a forklift truck.
  • This course also covers the principles of different regulations in relation to equipment and material handling.
  • You will need to bring your identification with you on the day and have a very basic understanding of English & Maths will be required.

 

Induction process and awareness when entering a new place of work

o   How to be safe when entering a new environment

Warehouse plan map

o   Identify key locations on a map and then find them in the centre

Warehouse Health and Safety awareness quiz

o   A fun activity to get you moving and searching the centre

Forklift Awareness checklist

o   Learn what the most important parts of a forklift truck are and find them on our truck

Forklift Taster session

o   Get the chance to carry out a supervised manoeuvre

Enrolment Paperwork completion

o   Complete your enrolment paperwork so you can access more courses

 

  • The course assessor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a workbook throughout the course.
  •  The assessor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed their workbooks.
  • On successful completion of this course, you will receive an Entry Level 1 Forklift Friday Certificate.

How to access funded courses

This course is funded through the Adult Skills Fund (ASF) in conjuction with New College Swindon.

Learners may be fundable if they meet the funding criteria, as set down by the ASF.

Typically, those on low incomes (under £25,000 per annum) and those claiming Universal Credit would qualify for funded training through this scheme.
