Who should attend?

Our Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance non regulated training programme provides opportunities for learners to develop their skills and knowledge to enable them to prepare and operate a Forklift truck in a warehouse environment.
This 5-day course will cover all the essential skills you will need to become a forklift operator but has also been specifically tailored to include additional important aspects of working and operating in a warehouse environment, such as practical manual handling training and skills around load preparation.
These skills will help prepare you for a multi-skilled role within the logistics sector.
This training programme has been developed in conjunction with employers, training providers and subject matter experts.
This course is an excellent way to further develop your skills for a variety of other higher-level courses or roles, such as subject specific Transport & Logistics qualifications at Level 3 and above.

Course Overview

Our Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance training programme will give learners the opportunity to learn how to operate a Counterbalance forklift truck to a safe standard.
It will also give learners the opportunity to carry out essential practical tasks associated with being a multi-skilled warehouse operative, with a full manual handling course included, specific learns on how to correctly prepare loads for transport using the forklift, carrying out pre-use checks, loading and unloading goods using a forklift and storing at height in racking.
This course also covers the principles of different regulations in relation to equipment and material handling, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act, PUWER and LOLER.
A strong understanding of English & Maths will be required.

· Prepare the forklift truck for driving or manoeuvring

· Operate, move or manoeuvre the forklift truck

· Select, transfer and position loads using a forklift truck

· Undertake post-operational checks on forklift trucks

· Load the container, vehicle, vessel or craft using a forklift truck

· Unload the container, vehicle, vessel or craft using a forklift truck

The course assessor is responsible for determining whether delegates pass or fail based on practical and oral assessment throughout the course, i.e. by observation and oral questioning, as well as the completion of a workbook throughout the course.
The assessor will only award a pass if they believe that delegates have displayed the requisite understanding and competencies at the end of each session throughout the course and successfully completed their workbooks.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Level 2 Forklift Operations and Maintenance Certificate.

How to access funded courses

This course is funded through the Adult Skills Fund (ASF) in conjuction with New College Swindon.

Learners may be fundable if they meet the funding criteria, as set down by the ASF.

Typically, those on low incomes (under £25,000 per annum) and those claiming Universal Credit would qualify for funded training through this scheme.
